A DINOSAUR’S vertebrae was among the items brought to an archaeology day in Yate.
The skeletal fragment was discovered in Pucklechurch by resident Tony Flood, who took it Yate Heritage Centre’s archaeology day on Saturday to be examined.
The annual event was run by Kurt Adams, from Gloucestershire Portable Antiquities Scheme, who inspected numerous items brought in by members of the public.
Other artefacts of interest included a 16th century jug featuring the picture of Cardinal Robert Bellarmine, an Italian Jesuit of the time, which was dug up in a garden in Yate.
David Hardill, community heritage officer, said: “There was some very interesting stuff brought in, certainly not things you find every day.
“We didn’t have as many people come as last year for the simple fact that with such bad weather over the winter, people have not been out digging things up.”
