THE FIRST of a series of exhibitions charting Wotton’s First World War experiences is on show.

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of World War I.

The Wotton-under-Edge Heritage Centre is marking this momentous year with exhibits showing local experiences during this time.

Its current exhibit, which runs until the end of March, focuses on what life was like for the people of Wotton in the years and months leading up to the Great War in 1914.

Showcasing photographs and archive items from 1900 to 1914, the exhibition seeks to explore what people were doing on the town’s farms, in businesses and the streets where they lived.

As well as delving into people’s work lives, the cabinets and wall displays ask what people did for entertainment in their spare time.
