DAREDEVILS are being invited to scale down the tallest building in Chipping Sodbury this summer.

As part of the 10-day Sodbury Festival, organisers are holding a sponsored abseil down the north face of the tower at St John’s Church on Wickwar Road.

The tower, standing at over 104 feet tall, is thought to have been built at the end of the 15th Century.

A maximum of 45 people will be able to abseil down the tower on Saturday, June 14 in aid of Save the Children.

Application forms are available from Chipping Sodbury’s Tourist Information Centre, Farrago or Out of the Blue shops. A registration fee of £5 is required with the application form and full details will then be sent with an information pack.

All participants will be asked to raise a minimum of £40 in sponsorship to enter. Participants must be 14 years and over and those aged between 14-16 years you must have a parent or guardian with them on the day to sign the forms required.

The event is being organised by St John's Church and the local support group for Save the Children and all sponsorship money will be divided equally between them.
