AN exhibition detailing the achievements of Frenchay Hospital’s world-renowned neurosciences department takes place this weekend.

The display will celebrate 65 years of neurosciences at Frenchay ahead of the move of hospital services to the new Brunel building at Southmead Hospital in May.

Exhibits will include archive photos and specialist equipment from throughout the years. Free tea, coffee and biscuits will also be available.

Crispin Wigfield, clinical director for neurosciences, said: “Frenchay Hospital is synonymous with the world of neurosciences and since the hospital’s creation in the 1940s we have been at the forefront of treatments and conditions related to the brain.

“More recently, the team has led the way in treating conditions such as epilepsy, Parkinson’s and multiple sclerosis and is taking part in some really ground-breaking research in these areas.”

He added: “I know that neurosciences at Southmead Hospital Bristol will continue and go from strength-to-strength.

“The exhibition will be a celebration of what we’ve achieved throughout the years. Everyone is welcome and we look forward to seeing you.”

The exhibition is free and will be held at the Monica Britton Museum, the Post Graduate Centre, Frenchay Hospital this Saturday, March 22 (10am-2pm).
