THE Royals to preside over this year’s Sodbury Festival have been chosen.

The town’s 2014 princess and her two attendants were selected at Chipping Sodbury Town Hall on Saturday.

Sophie Saxby, aged 10, is this year’s princess. The Raysfield Junior School pupil, who lives in Yate, will attend many of the events during the 10-day festival in June.

Her attendants, 10-year-old Jessie Lewis-Evans, a pupil at Woodlands Primary School, and nine-year-old Scarlett Howes, who attends Alexander Hosea School in Wickwar, will also be present at the festival which culminates in a carnival and procession on Saturday, June 21.

Chairman of the organising committee, Brian Hardy, said the judging had gone very well.

“We had six entries and they were all very good,” he said. “We were amazed how grown up and confident the youngsters all were.”

He added: “The festival is looking good, plans are coming along nicely.”

Sodbury Festival takes place between Friday, June 13 and Sunday, June 22. Tickets for events will be available from Farrago and Out of the Blue from April 2.
