THORNBURIANS mucked in to move thousands of books across the town.

Thornbury’s Lions organisation relocated to a new shop premises under the archway in St Mary's Centre on Sunday, March 23.

The bookshop in the shopping centre had 10,000 books which needed packing and moving to the new site.

Publicity officer Ken Peers said the group was thrilled with the help they had received.

He said: “We were amazed at the number of people who turned out to help including Lions , helpers and even customers and some members of Thornbury Rotary Club. “Many hands certainly made light work.”

The mammoth move was completed in just one day, with the shop open the next day, cleaned and ready to go.
