SATURDAY morning shoppers at a Dursley supermarket had a surprise last week when a zumba-dancing flash mob descended on the store in aid of Sport Relief 2014.

The aisles of Sainsbury’s on Castle Street literally became a dance floor when members of community group World Jungle performed Madison Stroll, inviting customers and staff to join in with the moves too.

Event organiser and dance fitness teacher, Jane Manning said everyone had fun while raising money for a great cause.

“There were lots of familiar faces from our various zumba dance and zumba gold classes from across the area, all decked out in the Sport Relief red and white colours,” she said.

“Some customers and Sainsbury’s staff joined in too, copying the moves – I think we definitely brightened up a few shopping trips”

“I would like to say a massive thank you to Sainsbury’s for supporting this event and to everyone who came along, joined in and helped raise some money.”

It is thought almost £150 was raised from the event alone and Sainsbury’s spokeswoman Nickova Davies said the store believes it may have reached its £1,500 target from all of its Sport Relief fundraisers.

The hard-earned donations will be added to the record-breaking Sport Relief 2014 total of over £51million.
