SODBURY Town Council is to take over the running of the town’s farmers’ market.
Chipping Sodbury Chamber of Commerce has withdrawn its involvement from the fortnightly market, which takes place on the chippings on High Street every other Saturday morning.
The chamber is in disarray after chairman Mark Lloyd stepped down and is looking for a new leader.
Sodbury Town Council has said the market will continue to run in its current location every second and fourth Saturday.
Sarah Williams, who runs Sodbury Lamb with her partner Andy and who has been involved with the market since its inception, has taken over the licence to run the event.
A spokesman for the council: “There will be no significant to the way the market works.
“We are keen to encourage new stalls to the market and contact details can be found on our website.
“A new page on the town council website will be set up specifically for the market and this will include dates of the market, details of stalls and any special events.”
It is not yet known whether the chamber of commerce will continue to run the town’s annual festival of food, this year due to take place on September 27.
