IT took years of requests but the road outside Almondsbury's community shop has finally been repaired.
The Severnside Safer and Stronger Community Group had lobbied for the road to be fixed because so many people used it when visiting the shop.
Colin Williams-Lock, chairman of the group, said there was no pavement so shoppers had to walk on the section of road, which had become badly eroded over time due to the amount of traffic going over it.
He said the damaged surface had become a hazard to pedestrian, especially older people and those with mobility or sight problems.
Now the perseverance of the group has paid off and the necessary work has been carried out by South Gloucestershire Council.
The Safer and Stronger Community Group meets regularly, giving people the chance to raise local issues. Its next meeting is at 7pm on Wednesday, April 30, at Severn Beach School.
