BRIGHT and colourful displays ensured Slimbridge Gardening Club’s spring show was a resounding success.
The show's judges were very impressed with the quality of the entries at this year’s event, with new chairman Carole Jeffes winning the top prize after securing the most points overall.
New members Joyce and John Mace won first place for the best spring garden, and new first-time competitor Jill Tait excelled in the best exhibit in handicrafts with her felted knitted bag.
Visitors to the show were delighted by the scents and sights of the spring blooms and were able to enjoy cream teas before the presentation of the trophies.
The club is enjoying its 72nd year after re-naming itself from Slimbridge Horticultural Society in 2012.
The group’s next big event will be the summer show in August with a full range of vegetable, flower, flower arranging, cookery and photography classes.
