THE FAMILY of a Dursley Rugby Club player who was paralysed in a car accident has described the devastating impact it has had after the teenage drink-driver responsible was jailed for two years.

Molly Zoglowek, 19, of Leaside Close in Cam, was more than twice over the drink drive limit when she decided to give a lift to five men, including 19-year-old Rob Camm, after a night out.

Zoglowek, now a sports student at Cardiff Metropolitan University, pleaded guilty to causing serious injury to Mr Camm by driving dangerously as well as driving with excess alcohol, at Gloucester Crown Court on Monday.

After the sentencing, Rob’s uncle Mike Camm told the Gazette his injuries were catastrophic and life-changing for him.

“We have been overwhelmed by the kindness and support given to us as a family at this truly horrendous time – we are touched and immensely grateful,” he said.

“Rob wants to rebuild his life and we will all be helping him to do so.”

Mr Camm, now 20, suffered 'catastrophic' injuries and has been in hospital ever since the accident on Dursley Road on September 15 in 2013.

The academically-gifted student was about to join York University but is now unable to move or speak, communicating only by blinking, and relies on a ventilator to breathe.

Rob's family have setup a website to keep people informed of his progress and of fundraising events being held to buy the specialist equipment he will need when he eventually returns home.
