MEMBERS of the choir at St Mary's Church, Olveston, went on an away day to sing at three services in Hereford Cathedral.
Some years ago, the choristers signed up to stand in for regular cathedral choirs at busy times, including Easter.
Their offer to help out has taken them to a variety of places near and far, from Christ Church, Oxford, to Exeter and Salisbury and even Dublin and Armagh.
At Hereford they sang under the direction of Dr David Shaw.
Choir member Graham Clark said: "In the run-up to major festivals or when there are a large number of services, cathedrals like to give their own choirs a rest so we volunteered to help out when needed.
"When we are all together, our choir numbers about 35 souls and we just love singing. It makes a nice away day and it's great to be able to sing in a cathedral that is so different to our own church.
"The acoustics in Hereford were fabulous so we really enjoyed that experience."
