HUNDREDS of chocolate eggs have been donated to Yate Town Council ahead of a huge Easter hunt on Monday.

Supermarkets Tesco, Morrisons and Waitrose have provided prizes for the trail which takes place in Kingsgate Park on Easter Monday (10am-12noon).

The annual event, organised by the town council and the Friends of Kingsgate Park, is open to all children aged under 12 and entrance is free.

Every child will receive a chocolate Easter egg after completing a treasure hunt in the park. There is a separate area for children aged five and under. There is also an Easter bonnet parade and the child with the best bonnet wins a prize.

A spokesman for the council said: “Yate Town Council in conjunction with The Friends of Kingsgate would like to extend a big thank you to all the local businesses and Dodington Parish Council who have kindly made donations towards the event.

“This year the event has been sponsored by Avon Sports Ground Maintenance, CPCL, Dodington Parish Council, Hansons, J Hollister, Landcare, Morrisons, Murray Hire, NSG Security Group Ltd (UK), Tesco and Waitrose.”
