ORGANISERS of this year’s Battle of the Bands competition in Chipping Sodbury are appealing for young musicians to come forward.

The contest takes place at Chipping Sodbury Town Hall on Wednesday, May 7 and bands are needed to compete against each other for a chance to play in public for the first time.

The winning band will be asked to open the annual Music in the Street night, part of the Sodbury Festival, on Tuesday, June 17 in Broad Street.

Festival committee chairman Brian Hardy said: “The competition is open to aspiring bands who wish to show off their talent.

“Entry is conditional on at least one member of the band being at school, and the winning band must be available to perform at the Chipping Sodbury Festival Music in the Street on the evening of June 17.”

The competition on May 7 will include a performance by last year’s winners The Trust About Cats.

Entries forms are available from the festival website
