LED Zeppelin singer Robert Plant caused a stir in Northleach earlier this month when he made a surprise appearance at a charity gig in the town.

The frontman, who has sold over 100million records with Led Zeppelin, was in the Cotswold to take part in an annual fundraising concert at the Church of St Peter and St Paul.

Other big names that took part in the concert on Sunday, April 13 included Grammy award winner Steve Winwood and Bill Hunt from the band Wizzard.

More than 400 people piled into the 250 seater venue to see the gig, that raised more than £5,000 for The Children’s Society, Christian Aid and Open Doors.

Fans at the concert were treated to a rare performance by Robert Plant and Steve Winwood of the 1976 Led Zeppelin track Nobody’s Fault but Mine.

Writing on Facebook, concert organiser Gordon Jackson, 71, described the event as a “special and blessed evening with great performances by all”.

Mr Jackson has been organising fundraising concerts throughout the Cotswolds since 1991.
