SHADOWY figures loomed in Thornbury during a magical puppetry show telling a traditional Hindu tale.
Theatre firm Impatient Vagrant, whose origins are in Alveston and is now based in Berkeley, put on a shadow puppetry workshop at St Mary Centre on Saturday, May 10.
The company operates from a travelling theatre and workshop space in a converted horsebox.
Youngsters depicted the famous love story of Rama and Sita, whose triumph over adversity is celebrated in Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights.
The lovers and incarnations of Gods overcome exile, separation and persecution to reunite – spiritually signifying the victory of light over darkness.
The workshop was part of the annual Thornbury Arts Festival, which is running until the coming Sunday, May 18.
