A MOTORCYCLIST died in an accident near Lower Apperley, Gloucestershire on Monday.

The 35-year-old from Newent was pronounced dead at the scene by a doctor at 2.33 pm. Support was provided by paramedics including the crews of two helicopters.

A second motorcyclist was riding with him but was not involved in the accident.

A road closure was put in place and the road was reopened shortly before 6 pm.

The deceased was riding a black Suzuki GSXR motorcycle when it left the road. His next of kin and the coroner have been informed. The cause of death has yet to be established.

Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to call 101, quoting incident 257 of June 2.

It follows another biker fatality on Sunday when a 57-year-old was involved in a collision on the M5.
