VOLUNTEER Week has been celebrated in style in Thornbury with a pop-up shop in the centre of town.

Thornbury Volunteer Centre has been marking the week with a shop in the old Julian Graves shop in St Mary Centre.

Staffed from Monday, June 2 to Saturday, June 7, 10am to 4pm, the temporary site aims to increase awareness of local voluntary opportunities while also raising some cash to support the centre.

The comprehensive centre offers hundreds of different opportunities in the communities in and around Thornbury, making a huge difference to countless lives.

Some local voluntary organisations have brought their own stands to the event where they are explaining the kind of work they carry out.

There’s also a shop on site with quality second-hand clothes, books and puzzles on sale, as well as a tombola, raffle and treasure hunt for the kids.

Development co-ordinator Kim Webb said the shop had got underway well and been proving popular with passersby.
