A WOMAN from Wotton-under-Edge who has recently been crowned Miss Bristol is chucking herself out of a plane to celebrate – and raise some money for charity in the process.

It may not be the most regal experience for 22-year-old Naomi Dunbar who is going skydiving after winning the crown in March - especially as she is terrified of heights –but she is determined to make a difference whilst in her year-long role.

It has been a whirlwind experience for the estate agent from Walkley Terrace, as she has so far taken part in photo shoots, radio interviews and was even a guest on ladies day at the Bath and West Show, where she awarded a prize to the visitor she believed was the best dressed.

“It has been challenging but a really rewarding experience,” she told the Gazette.

“Meeting so many people and being able to raise money for charity is really fun and I’m glad to help.

"I am hugely afraid of heights so this is really going to test me.”

Ms Dunbar is taking part in the skydive on Friday, June 6 and is hoping she can raise up to £1,000 for the children’s charity in partnership with the Miss England competition, Beauty with a Purpose.

After getting her feet firmly back on solid ground, she will be representing the city in the national Miss England finals on Friday, June 16, hoping to become Miss England for 2014 after she takes part in a series of tasks and events.

She added: “I feel genuinely proud to represent both the Gloucestershire area and Bristol with the opportunity to help these worthy events and causes, please support me on this exciting journey.”

The winner of Miss England 2014 goes through to the finals of Miss World 2014 which is being held in London later this year.
