GRANTS to insulate homes, making them warmer and cheaper to heat, are now available to all Gloucestershire and South Gloucestershire residents.

The Warm and Well scheme is currently offering at least partial grant funding for all households on loft and cavity wall insulation and households in certain areas may be entitled to free insulation, regardless of their circumstances.

Warm and Well is the only council endorsed energy efficiency improvement scheme in Gloucestershire and South Gloucestershire, and is able to offer the help because it has access to Energy Company Obligation funding.

Ensuring their home is fully insulated could help householders save thousands of pounds on their fuel bills over the coming few years.

All grants are subject to survey and funding availability.

Severn Wye Energy Agency1 runs the free Warm and Well advice line, set up to help householders stay warm, reduce their fuel bills, become more energy efficient. The advice line offers free, impartial and local advice on 0800 500 3076 for anyone seeking energy help.

Severn Wye’s Alex Baxter said: “We want to make sure as many people take advantage of this great opportunity to cut the cost of heating their homes in the future as possible.

“This funding won’t be around for long, and residents need to take advantage of it while it’s there.

“If you struggled to keep your home warm or pay your energy bills last winter, then give us a call now. Our advice line is free and you’re probably entitled to more help than you think.”

A new incentive introduced by the Department of Energy and Climate called the Green Deal Home Improvement Fund ensures households can access up to £6,000 towards the cost of solid wall insulation as well as up to £1,000 when making other improvements
