A WOMAN from Wotton-under-Edge recently crowned Miss Bristol has reached her fundraising target after going skydiving – despite being afraid of heights.

Naomi Dunbar, 22, was crowned Miss Bristol in March and has been raising money ever since for children’s charity, Beauty with a Purpose.

But the estate agent from Walkley Terrace in Wotton face her biggest challenge when she took part in a skydive last week despite being terrified of heights.

Ms Dunbar spoke to the Gazette before the event on Friday, June 6 and admitted she was not looking forward to it but has come back elated after overcoming her personal challenge and ensuring just over £1,000 was raised.

“It was so much fun even though I am scared of heights, but you are up so high you lose all concept of height which meant I was able to really enjoy it,” she said.

“I am so pleased I managed to meet my target, it's a great feeling to know that the money I have raised will be going to such a great cause.

“The sky was so clear I could see all the way to the Isle of Wight, the view was incredible I could see for miles and miles.”

Now she has her feet firmly back on solid ground she faces yet another challenge as she is in the running for becoming 2014’s Miss England, with the finals being held over this weekend, starting on Friday, June 16.

Naomi added: “I am feeling very nervous but I also can’t wait to meet all the girls and to just have fun taking part in the finals!”
