A YATE theatre school has been nominated for an international award.

Razzamataz Yate is a finalist in the 2014 International What’s On 4 Junior Awards.

Just to reach the finals, the dance, drama and singing school had to win a share of 90,000 public votes in the awards, which celebrate the very best kid's activity providers in the UK, Ireland and Australia.

Co-principals James Murden and Ross Brown said they were thrilled to have won a share of the public vote in the eight annual awards.

“Providing a top class service for children and their families is something we take great pride in,” said James.

“It is not only important to provide value for money but also to offer above and beyond their expectations of what a part-time theatre school can offer.”

Added Ross: “The feedback that we receive from students is truly heart-warming.

“We have had parents say to us that their child has gone from being so shy that they couldn’t even lift their hand in class, to being able to recite a poem in front of the whole assembly. That to us is the most positive part of what we do as a business.”

Razzamataz Theatre Schools shot to prominence after found Denise Hutton-Gosney appeared on TV’s the Dragons’ Den in 2007 and won the backing of investor Duncan Bannatyne.

Razzamataz Yate teacher children from age three to 18 and allows students to experience a range of performance styles from classic West End musical theatre to funky street dance.

Classes are held every Saturday at Yate Leisure Centre. To book a free taster session email bristolnorth@razzamataz.co.uk or call 08000 246161. For more details about Razzamataz visit www.razzamataz.co.uk

The school will learn if it has won a What’s On award at a ceremony at Drayton Manor theme park on Friday, June 20.
