PUPILS from a primary school in Wotton-under-Edge have proven themselves to be the next generation of naturalists after winning several rounds in county wide wildlife quiz.
The British School eased past the competition in four different rounds for the Gloucestershire Wildlife Quiz before the rise to the top ended by just one point in the semi finals.
They faced off against Meysey Hampton Primary and Clearwell C of E Primary in the county semi- finals at the Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust centre, Robinswood, in Gloucester.
They had previously beaten Dursley C of E Primary Academy on Monday, May 19 after both teams made it through two challenging rounds to qualify.
The school was awarded a plaque and a set of wildlife books for the school library for its achievements.
Teaching assistant and quiz team leader Jacqui Griffiths said the questions were of a very high standard and the children showed extensive knowledge of British wildlife and habitats
“At the end of the third round we were delighted when our team were declared the area champions,” she said.
“Congratulations to pupils Oisin Doherty, Hazel Garrett, Thomas Hadley, Tilley Spinney and Morley Wren.
“The school would like to extend a special thank you to Barbara Freeman for all her hard work in organising the area rounds and for her support in the semi finals.”
