A GROUP of daredevil fundraisers braved the heights of Chipping Sodbury’s parish church on Saturday to raise money for two causes.
In total, 46 men and women abseiled down the north face of St John’s Church raising more than £5,000 in the process.
After climbing the inside of the tower, participants were given a safety talk before scaling down the side of the 104 foot, 15th century wall.
Spectators assembled outside to watch those taking part climb down, under instructions from Bristol-based Dave Talbot Mountain Vision.
Organiser Liz Gregson said: “We had a beautiful, sunny day with pleasant temperatures meaning the supporters could all give great encouragement.
“As a provisional fund raising amount it would seem to be £5,000. The proceeds will be divided equally between the two and was organised as a joint venture.”
