A LARGE variety of lush green gardens will be on display in Uley this weekend to help raise funds for several charities.

Around 12 unique gardens will be on show on Sunday, June 22 including some that have not been opened to the public before in the village.

The grounds will be of varying sizes and include meadows with wild orchids, terraced gardens, woodland garden, kitchen gardens, herbaceous border, rare plants and innovative use of recycled materials.

As well as the gardens, there will be a plant and raffle ticket sale as well as teas at

Angeston Grange and at Uley Village Hall, made by Uley WI.

Helper Sheila Parsons who is also one of the people opening their garden to the public said she was excited the event was close to hand.

“I know on the day it will be lovely, especially if we get some nice weather,” she said.

“They are a keen group of gardners but they are all different and some have never been open to the public before so there’s something new for everyone.”

The cost will be £1 per adult per garden or £5 for a ‘rover’ ticket which includes a leaflet with a map of where all the gardens can be found from 2pm to 5pm on the day.

Ticket can be bought from any of the gardens which are signposted in the centre of the village, with proceeds going towards Motor Neurone Disease Association and Uley Primary School.
