FUNDRAISERS took a novel approach to a poppy appeal using a giant printed flower.

Members of the women's section of the Olveston and District branch of the Royal British Legion raised money on Saturday, June 7.

Volunteers set up shop on the pavement outside Olveston Stores, placing a huge poppy on the ground.

They asked people to donate their 2p coins, with the hope of covering the whole flower and raise funds for the branch's welfare fund.

It seems every penny really does count as this money goes towards offering financial aid to those in crisis and helping ex-Service people to get back on their feet.

The large bloom was printed and donated by Linela Embroidery in Olveston.

The Olveston and District team will be out again with their poppy on Saturday, July 5, hoping once more to raise vital funds for the charity.
