POLICE are yet to confirm how an elderly patient at a Yate care home died.
Una Dorney, 87, died at Oaktree Care Home in Lark Rise, Brimsham Park, Yate on Wednesday, June 18.
Ryan Guest, 33, from Birkdale in Yate has been charged with her murder and appeared before North Avon magistrates on Friday (June 20) and is due before Bristol Crown Court this morning (June 23).
A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Constabulary said a post-mortem examination had been carried out but further tests will need to be conducted to establish a conclusive cause of death.
Mrs Dorney is believed to have lived in Yate before becoming a resident at Oaktree. The Gazette understands she was widowed last year but has a large family in the town.
