A GALA in an Old Sodbury garden is being held this weekend featuring live music, cooking demonstrations and a classic car display.

The Gale in the Gardens event takes place at Camers, on Badminton Road overlooking the Severn Vale, on Saturday, June 28 (11am-7pm).

The stunning gardens at the listed Elizabethan farmhouse, which are regularly opened to the public in aid of charity, are hosting the day in aid of healthcare charity Sue Ryder.

Regional fundraiser Grace Shevell said: “The gala is quintessentially British, featuring a vintage tea garden, craft stalls, ballet, classic cars, live music, theatre, storytelling and a treasure hunt.

“Already confirmed to perform are the 1940s swing group The Dixie Belles, jazz, blues and boogie woogie singer Mark Douglas, electronic funk solo bassist Justin Kool, kitchen demonstrations from the Pampered Chef, the Winscombe community choir, classic cars from C&H motor club, opera singer Jane Gilchrist and many more.”

She added: “Guests can enjoy a cream tea, explore the kids area, have a Swedish massage, browse through the many different stalls, or wander through the Elizabethan gardens with a Pimms. It is the perfect day out for all the family.”

The event is being held to raise money for Sue Ryder’s Leckhampton Court Hospice and to help the charity provide care to local people with life-threatening illnesses and their families.

Last year’s similar Gala in the Garden events raised over £10,000 and the charity is hoping to beat that figure for 2014.
