POLICE have thanked a member of the public whose call led to the arrests of two suspects for an attempted burglary in Hambrook.

The caller reported a group of youths on bicycles apparently trying to break into a convenience store on Filton Road, Hambrook, at about 12.30am on Friday, July 4.

Officers attended and searched the area, supported by a dog handler and the police helicopter.

A man was detained nearby within 10 minutes of the call, and a second suspect was detained on the A4174 Avon Ring Road at 12.45am.

Temporary Neighbourhood Sergeant Luke Gribble said: “We found that the door of the shop had been damaged and officers liaised with the owners to make sure it was secured.

“We’re very grateful to the member of the public who called us straight away to report the incident.

“If anyone else has any information which could help our enquiries please contact us online or by calling 101 quoting reference 67462/14.”

Two men aged 17 and 18 remain in police custody.
