COUNCIL housing tenants in the district can benefit from a HomeSwapper event to be held at the Subscription Rooms in Stroud  this week.

From 2pm to 5pm social housing tenants will have the opportunity to register with HomeSwapper, a service which matches tenants wanting to move to other homes which may better meet their requirements and also to meet other tenants looking to move.

It will help tenants who may be affected by the bedroom subsidy withdrawal, popularly known as the bedroom tax, who need to downsize.

It will also help tenants who are currently overcrowded or those that need to move in order to be closer to family, friends or work.

Housing manager for Stroud District Council, Joel Darley, said: “HomeSwapper is a hugely popular service across the UK which is good for both tenants and landlords.

“More than 29,000 households are swapping every year through the service and it is helping to improve social mobility across the country.

“By holding this event, along with other social housing landlords in the district, we can extend the housing options we offer.

“They now have the option to find new homes not only in this area but across the whole of the UK.”
