STALLS promoting the work of volunteers were set up in Thornbury to raise money for charities and other organisations while encouraging more people to give up their time to help others.

The volunteer fair was organised by the Thornbury Volunteer Centre, which is run to match those seeking voluntary help with those who want to provide it.

Visitors to the event, held in the St Mary Centre, had the chance to buy a range of goods and listen to live music provided by Octaves children's choir.

Town mayor, Guy Rawlinson, also dropped in to meet the stallholders and some of the many volunteers whose help is crucial to the work of groups and charities.
