AVIATION charity Fly2help is launching a new scholarship for young people aged 14-18 in partnership with Gloucestershire Airport.

Ten lucky scholarship winners who are interested in a career in aviation will spend the October half-term, (October 27-31, 2014) at the airport to learn more about the different opportunities available to enter this exciting sector.

The week-long scholarship is likely to include visits to major aerospace companies including Rolls-Royce, Airbus and GE Aviation, as well as tours and talks from aviation companies based on the airfield.

Scholars will learn about everything from airport operations and air traffic control to the latest high-tech engineering advances in the industry.

Fly2help CEO Felicia Willow said they were thrilled to be able to offer this opportunity to young people in Gloucestershire.

“The scholarship will be a really exciting week of industry visits, talks and tours, with the opportunity to see inside some of the amazing aerospace companies that are based in Gloucestershire and Bristol,” she said.

“Students will have the chance to learn about different career pathways and try their hand at some practical activities.”

Business development manager at Gloucestershire Airport, Kim Davenport, said: “We are proud to show off the range of career opportunities the airport has to offer with such a variety of businesses on site.”
