THE NEXT generation of Berkeley football stars have been given a kick start a few years early as a brand new youth team starts.
Severnside Youth FC, which runs in Berkeley, has recently received £750 from energy company Magnox to start a new team for players aged four to five.
The children have been presented with new kit and equipment, which includes a first aid kit and training for coach Cameron Elliott.
Chairman of the Severnside Youth FC, Carl Tronier, said it was an exciting opportunity for the club.
“To see our youngest players with their new equipment was such a pleasure,” he said.
“We have a new committee that is fully committed to taking the club forward. The local businesses and parents within Berkeley have showed fantastic support over the last season with fund raising and donations.
“It's also worth mentioning that without the parent’s support every week in all weathers our club would not exist.
“Thank you to everyone who has supported the club over many years and continue to support.”
