A DRUG dealer from Wotton-under-Edge has been jailed for having amphetamines at his home with intent to supply.

Shannon Wilkins, of Bearland, had initially pleaded not guilty to possession of drugs with intent to supply despite police raiding his home and discovering 41 grams of amphetamine, £420 in cash, weighing scales, dealers’ lists and a mobile phone full of drug-related text messages.

But the 24-year-old eventually saw sense on the day of his scheduled trial last month and changed his plea to guilty.

Prosecuting barrister Julian Kesner told the court the total value of the drugs seized, a cathinone derivative which is an amphetamine, was £820.

"That was found in the lounge along with £420 in cash, a Nokia mobile phone with drug texts, a set of scales and a dealer’s list with numerous names," he said.

"On that list a calculation of money owing the defendant ran to some £2,640.

"In the kitchen were more drugs and another dealer’s list, referring to £2,995 owed.

"In all there were 29 names on the lists, making the defendant a very active street dealer.

"He has 22 previous convictions."

At a previous hearing the prosecution offered no evidence in the case of 20-year-old co-accused Amie Jones of Middle Tynings, Nailsworth.

His Honour Judge Jamie Tabor QC jailed Wilkins for ten months.
