A SHOP on Dursley’s high street has undergone a quarter of a million pound high-tech refurbishment.

Clifton Cameras on Parsonage Street is enjoying a brand new modern look after taking over the adjacent empty store and undergoing a complete revamp.

The shop, which sells specialist photography equipment, has not only doubled in size but has also introduced a wider range of display models, iPads to show their online stock and a printer to show people's work first hand.

Commercial manager Richard Swan said the big advantage of the refurbishment was the larger amount of stock they could have on show and in stock.

“It’s what it needed to be,” he said.

“It has enabled us to have a far more extensive range of stock and wider range of brands than we were able to do before.

“We now have more touch and try models, making it possible for people to pick one up and look for themselves.

“It gives us more time and space to do things so we can provide a more professional service.”

The firm has also fitted a brand new staff room upstairs, which will also be used for training courses and introductory sessions with customers.

Clifton Cameras originally moved to the town in 2007 and Mr Swan said the business had progressively grown every year since and now employs 22 staff, including directors.

The firm has another store in Quedgeley but Mr Swan said they thought it was the right choice to invest in Dursley as it was a designation shop where people specifically visited to look at their products.

“The owners live not very far from here and it’s a lovely town,” he said.

“If you tried to do this in the heart of Bristol you would struggle to get this space.

“It’s been really positive feedback, it’s been a long time in the making. The feedback staff have been getting from customers is very good.”
