THREE former Katharine Lady Berkeley students left Chipping Sodbury as they embarked on a cycle ride of over 700 miles to raise money for Parkinson’s UK.

They left the town on Monday, August 4 as they begin their ride down through England before crossing on to the European mainland.

Matt Albon-Crouch, from Chipping Sodbury, Michael Wenman, who was also, originally, from Chipping Sodbury and Alex Wright, of Cam, will cycle to Paris, where they will have two days rest and then on to Amsterdam, hopefully on Friday, August 15 in an effort to raise funds to help fight the condition.

They are hoping to raise £1,000 for the charity which provides support and assistance for people living with Parkinson’s.

Alex’s family has taken part in various fundraising events for the charity in the past all to support the charity which aims to fight the condition.

Alex, 20, convinced two of his friends to join him on the latest fundraising effort which will see them cycle into Europe.

He said: “Parkinson’s UK provide vital support to people living with Parkinsons and also to their families.

“It’s important that they receive funding to help them also research the disease so that we can get a better understanding of it.

“We know that it’s not going to be easy but knowing that you’re raising money for such a fantastic cause makes it all worthwhile.

“Not only is this ride going to help the charity but it’s also a great way to keep fit!”

The team will be carrying everything they need on their bikes and will be camping at various sites as they head towards Amsterdam.
