A JAM and juice company in Chipping Sodbury has scooped a tasty award.
Serbian import firm Granny’s Secret has received two honours in the 2014 South West Great Taste awards.
The company, set up and run by Chipping Sodbury mum Snezana Knowles, won a two star award for its orange jam, which was praised for its authentic homemade style, and a one star award for its natural wild apple juice.
Granny’s Secret was the first company in the UK to import handmade juices, relished and fruit preserves from Serbian when it launched in 2011.
A former Airbus engineer, Snezana, who moved from Serbia in 1989, gave up her job after a visit to her home country in the summer of 2011 when she found her tastebuds unsatisfied on her return to the UK.
“When I returned to England after my holiday, I complained to my husband that it was difficult to find in the UK, the traditional recipes that I had enjoyed for many years at home,” said the mother-of-three.
“His response was to go and do something about it, so I did.
The company’s products are now stocked in various delicatessens and eateries in Chipping Sodbury and across the South West and London as well as on Amazon and outlets in Monaco, Luxembourg and Spain.
