DEVELOPERS hoping to build 1,500 new homes are to host a third consultation event – putting forward what they see as an immediate need for 300 houses.
GreenSquare Group and Hunter Page Planning are proposing the development on either side of the B4066 at Sharpness.
Following a consultation held in July, in which the potential build of 1,500 properties was discussed, this event will focus on what the groups regard as an immediate need for about 300 new homes.
Work has been carried out on the proposals for the last two years. The plan is to create a new garden village of 1,500 homes that will be delivered in Stroud District Council’s local plan period up to 2031.
Developing the village holds potential for a new village centre with a food store, small shops and offices.
There is also a possibility of a doctor’s surgery and school with bus routes as a key feature.
Despite this event's new focus, the groups have stated that, depending on housing numbers agreed upon in the Stroud District Local Plan, future planning applications could still be made for the initial proposal of 1,500 houses.
The meetings will take place at Sharpness Village Hall, in Oldminster Road, Berkeley, on Tuesday, September 2. Councillors are invited from 3 to 4pm, and can also stay for the public session from 4 to 7pm.
