A ROADSHOW that aims to help people with dementia will begin next month.

The ‘Living Well with Dementia’ roadshow will take place at Hanham Community Centre on Tuesday, September 9.

It will offer practical, emotional and health advice to anyone who has recently been diagnosed with dementia, their carers or relatives.

The session is intended to provide people with the information they need to understand their diagnosis and make the most of living with dementia.

Each roadshow features a welcome and overview from a local GP. Guests will also receive a specialist’s guide to medication and treatment.

There will be talks on how to manage legal affairs, a discussion focussing on memory techniques, and experts on hand to answer any questions.

Stalls featuring information about local support will be made available, including support aimed at carers.

Commissioning manager at South Gloucestershire Council Angie Marsh said: “Being diagnosed with dementia can leave the person with dementia and their family with lots of questions about what they can expect and what they can do to plan for the future.

“These roadshows provide useful information to help answer these questions and provide reassurance that you’re not on your own.

“Anyone who is currently living with dementia and their families are encouraged to book a place.”

The roadshow will take place on Tuesday, September 9, at Hanham Community Centre, in High Street, Hanham. The event is free and will run from 2pm to 4.30pm.
