A SCULPTURE of a Sea Witch that stands 12-feet high was designed for an event in April – but has now found a new role greeting visitors in the foyer of an art centre.

The witch, created by Bristol charity Milestones Trust which supports people with learning disabilities, mental health needs and dementia in the South West.

After being used in the charity’s Expressions art event in April, the sculpture needed a home, and finally discovered just that at Kingshill House in Dursley.

Arts administrator Gilly Ballard said: “The Sea Witch is a dramatic piece and I think she will be a real talking point.

“We have the size and height in our foyer needed to display her and hope to raise funds for Milestones Trust in the process. As an arts centre it’s great to be able to showcase work such as this.”

Kingshill House is hosting a variety of fundraising activities on the weekend beginning Friday, September 12.

Top comedy entertainer David St John is hosting a Sixties Show on Friday 12 September starting at 7.30pm.

A craft fair, in aid of Milestones Trust, will take place on Sunday September 14 from 10am until 4.30pm. Cream teas will be served in association with Macmillan’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.

Finally, running through the whole weekend, there is a three-day long art and craft exhibition with work from local artists on display from Friday until Sunday from 10am to 4pm.

It’s free entry to the exhibition, craft fair and coffee morning and there will even be a bouncy castle in the grounds of Kingshill House to keep younger visitors entertained.
