US President Barack Obama landed at RAF Fairford just before 7pm tonight ahead of the NATO summit in Newport.
Police surrounded the base in anticipation of the US President's visit . Whelford Road is currently a hive of activity, with police officers based at every lay-by and eager plane spotters waiting for Air Force One to land.
Officers said they had been based at Whelford Road since Friday, in the run-up to the President's visit.
They also mentioned that when the President does arrive, the road will be closed for around half an hour.
The NATO summit begins tomorrow in Newport and will be the largest gathering of international leaders ever seen in Britain.
