AN array of tasty treats will be served up at the fifth annual Chipping Sodbury Food Festival later this month.

Shops will hold special demonstrations, free taster sessions and one-off events during the festival on Saturday, September 27.

Organised by Sodbury Chamber of Commerce, the main event will be an extended farmers’ market in the High Street all day.

Various venues will hold their own events including Hobbs House Bakery which is running its second Bake Off competition following the success of last year’s contest. All are welcome to enter their cakes, breads or puddings and all entries should be taken to the bakery by 11am on the day.

Ice and Easy cake shop is holding sugar craft demonstrations at 10.30am, Cotswold Vintners is offering wine tasting between 10.30am and 12.30pm and The George will have a bouncy castle for children to enjoy and food sampling in aid of Great Ormond Street Hospital.

In the afternoon, the Coffee Bean will offer gluten free products to try, a new pizza menu will be available for sample tastings at the Portcullis and the Beaufort Hunt pub is running a hog roast from 1.30pm. Henry’s Oriental restaurant will offer food sampling from 12noon and visitors can try real ales and homemade desserts between 12noon and 2.30pm. Hobbs House will hold a barbecue and cookery demonstrations from 12.30pm onwards.

Rebekah Richardson, co-chairman of Sodbury Chamber of Commerce, said: “Come along to the Chipping Sodbury fifth annual food festival and experience a great, free family day out with lots to make, see and do.

“You will see lots of local shops supporting the festival from wine tasting to hog roasting and much more. It is a day for everyone.”
