POLICE in Dursley scrambled to find a man who had threatened to harm himself on Wednesday (17) night.

Officers, search dog and a helicopter were deployed after police received a call at 8.40pm notifying them of a 56-year-old man was believed to be a danger to himself.

The sizeable numbers searched Kingshill, Stinchcombe Golf Course and several local pubs.

The officers eventually discovered the man’s car, leading them to believe he may be wandering through nearby woods towards Stinchcombe.

Just before midnight they found the vulnerable man safe and well at a friend’s house near his home.

A Gloucestershire police spokesman said: “He came into Dursley police Station for a debrief and to check he was ok and went back home afterwards.

“He said he would seek medical support.”
