AN ART display is currently on show at Yate Heritage Centre.

The annual Yate Open Art Exhibition is a showcase of the talent of a wide range of local artists.

This year’s event was opened by the Mayor of Yate, Cllr Wully Perks, who presented the winners with their awards.

The winner of the Yate Open was Kieran Naish with ‘Trafalgar Square’, Juan Nuevo picked up the second-placed prize with his work titled ‘Difference’ and Tim Wilmot came in third place with ‘Chipping Sodbury Church’.

David Hardill, the community heritage officer, said "Once again there was a good standard of work from local individual artists demonstrating the value of this Open Exhibition, the only one of its kind in South Gloucestershire. It is gratifying that people of all different ages take part."

The exhibition will run through until Tuesday, October 14 at the centre in Church Road and is open between 10.30am and 4.30pm on Monday to Thursday and on Saturdays.
