A WARRANT was issued today for the arrest of a Dursley man who was caught by police with an illegal pepper spray last year.

Michael Hensley, 19, of School Road, Dursley, had been summoned before Gloucester Crown Court today for allegedly being in breach of a community order imposed on him in August.

But after failing to attend Judge Jamie Tabor QC issued a warrant for his arrest.

Probation officer Sian Worrall had applied for the warrant after telling the judge Hensley was written to on Wednesday, October 22, notifying him of Wednesday's court date, receiving no response.

"I have also been told he has been arrested for a number of new alleged offences including possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply and is on police bail," Ms Worrall said. "There are three sets of charges against him in the pipeline."

Hensley had originally been sentenced in September last year for an offence of possessing a prohibited weapon on April 17, 2013, at Rosebery Mount, Dursley.

He received a supervision order then but failed to comply and was re-sentenced in August this year to the new community order.

The gas spray had been discharged in Rosebery Mount and when police went to Hensley's home the spray container was found.

When the case was first heard last year David Scutt, prosecuting, said: "This man and another attended an address in Dursley where there was some violence. The police were called.

"They noticed that what appeared to be a CS gas canister had been discharged. They later went to School road where the defendant and another man were arrested.

"The defendant said 'the can is in there.' The police recovered a can of Dragon pepper spray. He said he had found it a few weeks earlier and taken it back home to his address and had not got rid of it or handed it in."
