WORK has started to stabilise the embankments between M5 junction 14 to 15 near Itchington and Tytherington.

The essential work, costing £960,000 will ensure there will be no slippage of soil on the embankment in the future.

The work got underway on Monday, November 24 and will last until March, 2015 and will require three narrow lanes and a hard shoulder closure. A 50mph temporary speed limit will also be in place during the works.

Dave Frampton, Highways Agency project sponsor said: “This stabilisation work is part of the government’s commitment to maintaining England’s roads and will ensure this section of the M5 remains safe and reliable for road users.

“We will need to remove some vegetation but we will be replanting a variety of indigenous trees on the bank once the work is completed.”

Road users are advised to plan their journeys and allow slightly extra time.
