A CARD shop in Dursley is celebrating 10 years of being part of the local community.

Just to Say, in Parsonage Street, Dursley, first opened its doors in 2004.

The shop sells a range of items, from cards for all occasions to giftwear, teddy bears and party gear.

The shop was initially positioned in the spot of the current funeral directors, moving to its current location further along the street six years ago.

Over time staff have expanded on what they have to offer and made efforts to imbed themselves in the Dursley community.

Manager Sue Pinnell took over the business seven years ago.

She said: “The shop has had a few ups and downs but we’ve carried on with the help of our loyal customers.

“We try and pride ourselves on good customer service and being helpful and friendly.”

Mrs Pinnell’s work at Just to Say has, at times, exceeded far beyond the expectations of a manager.

She has gotten to know many of the customers personally over the years and even attended funerals to show support to friends she has made while serving people at the shop.

She said: “I’ve really enjoyed the time I’ve worked here so far. I’m a people person so I really enjoy chatting to people and getting to know our customers personally.

“It’s not just a business. It’s really a part of the community, a part of the town.”

This time of year is particularly busy for Just to Say, and the Christmas section of the store, which was set up last year, is as popular as ever.

The section is dedicated to Christmas cards and other Christmas items, leaving the rest of the store intact to ensure those with December birthdays don’t get left out.

With 10 years under the belt, Mrs Pinnell and Just to Say have no intention of slowing down anytime soon.

She continued: “I’d just like to say thank you to all our loyal customers who have supported us over the past 10 years, and we hope you’ll be there to support us for the next 10.”
