CHIPPING Sodbury welcomed all things vintage and handmade at its sixth annual Christmas fair.

The Original Vintage and Handmade Christmas Fair took place on Saturday, December 13 in the Chipping Sodbury Town Hall.

The event, organised by Michele Chivers and Jayne Soule, attracted over 1,000 visitors to the popular Christmas event.

Vintage dealers, artists and creative designers from the South West and beyond showcased their vintage and handmade gifts to the public through a variety of stalls.

Organiser Mrs Chivers said: “We had over 1,000 visitors this year, it was one of the best fairs we have had this year and it is normally the most eagerly anticipated.

“We had 40 stalls offering a real variety of things, from felt animals to jewellery and hats. It was very Christmassy and beautiful and the fair always brings a lot of people into Chipping Sodbury.

“We get regulars, loyal visitors who look forward to the Christmas fair every year and then new people who have heard about it through word of mouth and social networking who want to see what we have to offer.”

The event also presented a vintage tea room, offering tea, coffee and homemade festive cakes and treats all served on vintage china to maintain the theme of the fair.

A free Christmas goody bag was given to the first 50 visitors of the fair which ran from 10am to 3pm in the decorated hall.

The Christmas fair also celebrated its sixth year, with the first fair being launched in 2008 by Mrs Soule and Mrs Chivers.

The pair met six years ago as bloggers with a mutual interest in all things vintage, and decided to organise an event for those with the common interest to show off their pieces.

Mrs Chivers added: “We are already half-booked for next year, with a waiting list and the Christmas fair is always the most popular one throughout the year.”
