TWO men have relaunched a campaign to see a greenway built through Cam, Dursley and Uley - continuing the project their late father started.

The Cam, Dursley and Uley Greenway have plans to build a safe greenway for families, cyclists and wheelchair users through the three areas.

At the meeting, held at Dursley Town Hall and attended by project team members and supporters, an overview of the project was provided by Phil Littleford.

The plan is that the greenway will be usable by anyone, from children to people with mobility problems, either recreationally or as part of a commute.

Four main sections are to be built from Uley to Dursley, Dursley to Cam, Cam to the railway station and eventually a link to Slimbridge and National Cycle Network Route 41.

Bob Littleford started the project eight years ago and saw a great deal of progress - but due to illness and his subsequent death the project stalled.

Now Mr Littleford’s two sons, Phil and Jonathan, with the support of their family, Vale Vision and the project team, are actively moving forward with the project.

Part of the route at the Cam end of the Littlecombe site exists and is now being used. It happens to pass right outside the home of Mr Littleford’s widow Gill Littleford.

Funding will come from grants and income from new development in the area.

Over the coming months more information will be available via a website and Facebook page.

Next Spring there will be a public event at Dursley Recreation Ground with other local organisations in attendance.
