A PUNCH-UP in Nailsworth Social Club landed a man in hospital with serious injuries, a court heard today.

One man from Dursley and another man from Nailsworth appeared at Gloucester Crown Court charged with violent disorder on April 13, 2013.

An original charge of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm was dropped when the Crown conceded that there were two separate incidents in the club and it was not certain when the victim sustained his injuries.

Kevin Drew, 37, of Stevens Way, Horsley, and 32-year-old Christopher Goodfield of Phelps Mill Close, Dursley, have both denied assaulting Paul Harrison.

Prosecutor Julian Kesner said: "There were two separate incidents that night at the club and other people assaulted Mr Harrison in the first incident.

"The victim's injuries may have come from the first incident."

Drew's defending lawyer Matthew Harbison said: "It appears that the victim may have started this confrontation, which also involved two brothers, Jay and Ross Richards."

A trial was listed for Monday, February 2, and both defendants were granted unconditional bail.
